Friendship and friends

Happy Friendship Day to all.

"What is a friend? A single soul, dwelling in two bodies" - Aristotle

Quite rightly said. Friends are those who are bonded by the strings of love, support, trust, encouragement and entertainment, and the relationship thus formed between two peoples or a group of peoples is called friendship. Friendship is that relation which is the supporting pillar for emotions of an individual. A unique blend of affection, loyalty, love, respect, trust and loads of fun is perhaps what describes the true meaning of friendship. Friendship is eternal and it is not just restrained to sharing good moments and roaming the world with them.

Different peoples makes different meaning of friendship. For some, it is the trust that the other end won't hurt them. For others it is just unconditional love that flows from both the ends. Again some feel that friendship is just companionship. Based on these, there are different types of friends one can get and come across in one's lifetime. Let's just review some of them and take time to re-evaluate some of our friendship....

1) The true Friend: These are the types of friends that the most lucky persons have. They define the friendship relation as unconditional love accompanied by companionship, trust and all other ingredients that makes those type of friendship truly eternal. These friends will not only celebrate with you but also cry with you. They will be the ones who will give the shoulders for you to support you in distress, may what be the position he himself is in. These breed is rare. ( But I have got some of these!)

2) The Emotional Vampire: Yes, the vampires. Everyone knows vampires, just like them, these type of friends tends and even succeeds in sucking out life from you. They act or are really surrounded by dramas everyday. So, their life is scarcely pleasant and so makes your life. They rarely change, and thus, if one gets such friend, that person is likely to suffer all along. If you have any of these, today is the day u make the decision. You deserve a more less 'eventional'(events+emotions) life.

3) The Upper Case: I myself have come across these type of friends. This is one very common breed of friends. The moment you come to share anything with him, may it be sorrow, love etc. this friend comes up with some of his own stuff, disrupting you. Their stories will always be more interesting, dreadful or more exciting. They does not seem to bother about you, saying only theirs. Don't just throw these out, give them a chance, tell them to learn to give equal value.

4) The LCS type: The lair cheater and stealer type. This friends lies to you, or they cheat on you or they resort to stealing. They simply have not been groomed in good environment and thus they end up end up costing you dear. A friend who constantly lies or steals simply does not value the relationship. You are just a puppet for them. Reconsider these relationships at the earnest or it may cause serious problems.

5) Double Standards: The most dangerous type present! Friends in this type maintains double standards. The speak honey in-font of you, and the moment you turn your back they spit venom at you! They praise you when you are with them, but, behind your back they talks badly about you. They may also maintain double standards by the way of feeding you enemies! That is, they may be also a good friend of your enemy. That's not a problem though, till, they conspire against you behind your back with your enemy. Some friends also maintain double friend standard. They consciously or unconsciously simply make two people compete for the place of their friend, which is harmful and obviously ridiculous! Avoid these type of friends, or frankly tell them you don't like what they are doing

6) The Addict: Whatever the addiction maybe drugs, alcohol, gambling or sex, it will take out so much from a friend that it will be a better option to sacrifice this type of friend. They may sometime tend to push you their way may it be unintentional, but it is the same harm that will cause you too. Support the addict not so long before the friend commits to making positive changes.

7) The User: This type of persons is the one that generally makes friends for some purpose....that maybe your car, your video game, your bank balance etc. The real test of this type of friendship is to start saying no. If your friends is more than just a user, he will change himself for good. But, after you start saying no and your friend start hanging out less then it maybe a good sign that he is just the User and not the friend you thought to be.

8) The abuser:
If you know to distinguish between constructive criticism and just critism then you will find them among your existing group of friends. This abuser tends to hurt you, put you down and then keep you down. They will hurt you in the name of criticism to make you a better person and will somehow convince you to carry on the relation with him. If you seriously are against abuse of any kind, release them from the 'clutches' of friendship and feel the better side you could have enjoyed even earlier without the abuser!

Anyhow if even your friend falls in this chart, do give them a chance. After all, its friendship. But at the same time we should remember that, an enemy is better than a malicious friend!

~ Thanks!
